Blogpodium 2013

Amanda Britton, Sarah Richardson, Sara Knol

This past weekend was the 3rd Blogpodium, and AyA’s 2nd time sponsoring this grand event. Blogpodium gathers bloggers alike, from all over, to educate themselves on successful blogging, with tips on creating content, gaining loyal followers, and turning blogs into businesses.

The keynote speaker this year was Toronto’s very own Sarah Richardson. Sarah set the tone of the day with inspirational quotes and advice for all. And some grammatical advice too-who knew “these ones”, and “those ones” is grammatically incorrect? It sure got us thinking!

Another great part of Blogpodium was AyA’s Blogpodium Bound contest. Our 2nd annual contest held, giving bloggers a chance to win a trip to Blogpodium, including flight, hotel and entrance into the event, by submitting a moodboard based on year’s topic. This year’s contest was Ultimate Party Kitchen-and if you missed the entry, check out the details on that blog here. Sarah Knol, all the way from Okanagan BC was selected as this year’s winner, and we really couldn’t have been more excited to meet her. By reading her post, we were all touched with her charm and sense of humour, and with a few emails back and forth before meeting her, she was everything we thought she would be and more! Sarah, (as promised publicly via Twitter) met us with grand open arms and a big BG bear hug and perhaps even a delicious present from home! She had the chance to meet Sarah Richardson for tea the night before and couldn’t have been more excited to be in Toronto, gaining some insightful tips on blogging, and perfect timing for helping her with her career change. The night also included fun exhibits and a well rounded panel of speakers including Meredith Heron, Interior Designer and Television Host who spoke about how to grow your business with social media. We took lots of fun photos, laughed and toured the exhibitors and then she was off for the informative seminars that ran throughout the day.

We ran into a few other familiar faces as well and all and all felt it was a great Saturday event.
