image004Have you come across a situation where you’ve had extra cabinets from your previous projects and although outdated, they are still in good condition and it would be a shame to waste them? The cabinets may be mixed and matched but are they really ready for the garbage?

During my projects, we’ve come across this situation and ended up keeping some of the cabinets because they were still in good condition, but now what? What can we do with these cabinets?

My mind started spinning and I asked myself, “what do I need that can be useful?” Then the answer came to me, I’ve always wanted a free standing unit to display my plants, store my books and crafting supplies. Therefore I came up with a solution; one unit to display and store each of my hobbies.

image002Even though the cabinets were not perfect and missing a few things, it was a great opportunity to get creative. I figured with some minor touch ups and a few additions here and there, it would do the trick.

Freestanding units are wonderful, as they are not permanently fixed at one place and you can easily relocate it within the space or the rest of your home.

  • Did you use something on top of the cabinet with the books? It looks like glass but I’m not sure. Looks nice!

    Hi Nelson,

Thank you for the compliment!!! There’s no glass top on the cabinets, only a panel. I wiped the panel down with a damp cloth before I took the pictures and the flash on my camera is very bright, perhaps that’s why there is a mirror effect on my pictures!

    Have A Fabulous Day!!!
