As you enter AyA’s NuDesign kitchen space you are immediately drawn to the striking balance between everyday living and sleek sophistication. This inspired kitchen/living/dining room is truly a multifunctional space. Unique design elements contribute to the seamlessness of the living area, the dining area and the kitchen.
A counter-height maple wheat coloured table is installed on casters to effortlessly transform the space from a galley-style kitchen to a user-friendly U-shaped kitchen whenever more prep space is required. When dining or entertaining, the table can easily become an independent dining table that accommodates up to 8 people.
Another key feature that melds the functionalities and the aesthetics of the space is the self-contained fireplace which is cleverly built into the island providing a visual focal point for the living room area. Sophisticated furnishings in a luxe gunmetal upholstery custom designed by Jane Lockhart exclusively for AyA’s NuDesign booth create a comfy, relaxing lounge area. A combination of leather and prefinished pecan hardwood floors create an open and airy feel to the space and create a subtle visual division of the space.
Providing the style-savvy backdrop and sophistication to this unique space is gorgeous contrasting cabinetry in a combination of AyA’s Lumina back-painted glass doors in Anthracite and SoHo FSC certified maple slab doors in AyA’s new Wheat finish. The luster of the reflective glass doors adds sparkle while complimenting the warm Wheat stain of the maple doors. The cabinetry, from AyA’s LEED compliant EVO line of green cabinetry is FSC certified and emission free as it is made with materials containing no-added urea-formaldehyde.
The flush inset Sub Zero refrigerator, paneled and installed to match the cabinetry allows the appliance to be seamlessly integrated into the space. Minimalisit,European styling is most evident in the Wolf appliances – such as the unframed black ceramic cooktop installed flush with the counter top. The cleverly designed waterfall countertop in Carbono from SileStone’s new Platinum Series, adds a stylishly practical finishing touch to the kitchen.

Thanks and congratulations to all those who helped make AyA’s presence at this year’s IDS10 our best ever. For those of you who didn’t make it down to the show, AyA had two booths, one with the AyA led NuDesign collaboration with SubZero/Wolf and TV personality and Interior Designer Jane Lockhart and another with appliance manufacturer Fisher & Paykel (with cabinet doors and reclaimed wood table by designer Scott Eunson). The show was very well attended, lots of fun and both of AyA’s booths were very, very well received. Well done!!
Really liked the idea of having a whole living space. I think it gives a better idea of how you can integrate these ideas into your own home.
