Don’t be without a kitchen before you get your new one!

Kitchen RenoYou’re in the showroom, looking at the abundance of design ideas & can already picture yourself in your new kitchen.  Patience my friend, one step at a time.  When you decide you’re ready to buy your kitchen, make sure to tell your designer of any other renovation plans you may have for the same room.  Flooring, tiles, plumbing, granite countertops, etc.  Each reno depends on another & therefore you want your designer to know of your time restrictions up front.

Once you’ve finalized the paperwork to order your cabinets, your designer will give you an estimated completion time-frame.  This is just an estimate based on that current days production; you never know if something could change this date a few weeks from now.  When finalizing the dates for your other renovations, or just to rip out your current kitchen, you’ll need to keep the word “estimate” in mind.  I know the excitement builds more & more each day, but please don’t rip out your kitchen until you know when your cabinets will be delivered.  You don’t want to be without a kitchen before you even get your kitchen.

Keep in communication with your designer closer to that estimated completion time-frame so you can accurately schedule when everything can/should be done.   When you get that call of when you can expect your delivery, take into consideration that you still need a functioning kitchen in the meantime.  So plan wisely to ensure the minimalist amount of time between tear-out & install or only begin to remove sections that you can live without for the time being.

Your new kitchen is going to be beautiful, just be patient & you’ll see!

  • Remodeling a current home instead of buying a new one is a popular decision among homeowners in today’s economy and housing market. It’s also a wise choice, for when the time comes to sell, the return on investment for many remodeling projects is significant, especially in the kitchen.

  • It’s important to also consider all that needs to be done once the cabinetry is installed. Most importantly it’s good to remember that the templating and production of a stone top can take up to several weeks and that your sink and plumbing come after that. If you have a cook top that will have to wait too! Plywood can be used for a temporary top and if you are willing to bear the extra expense, this enables you to reconnect your sink.
