Back in January AyA and Tomas Pearce Interior Design Consulting partnered for the 2012 Interior Design Show. The creation and end result was a sleek concept kitchen (Now You See It, Now You Don’t) that challenged condo living by maximizing minimal space.
That same kitchen is now in our Mississauga Showroom! If you didn’t get a chance before you can now visit us and see this modern hide away kitchen for yourself.
AyA’s high gloss Chelsea doors are paired with state of the art Miele stainless steel appliances. Curious how the kitchen hides away? > Click for more

Sunday May 13th marks the day of appreciation for Mother’s and we encourage you to get out and spend time with your mom to show her how much you care. While flowers are always appreciated, there is nothing worth more than memories you build and share together, so this year aim to do something with your mom that will create a lifetime of memories. > Click for more

During the month of March, AyA Kitchens and Baths teamed up with the lovely ladies behind Blogpodium and the Blogpodium Bound Contest was born. Blogpodium, led by Lindsay Stephenson of Little House Blog and Jennifer Flores of Rambling Renovators is the first and only Canadian Conference series for Bloggers. When the opportunity arose to take part, AyA was thrilled!
We have had some great entries, which we thoroughly enjoyed going through and reading about the stories behind all the contestants dream kitchens, but then came the hard part-we had to narrow it down to the winner. All of the entries we received were creative, visually appealing and fun, which didn’t make the decision process very easy! We had to start somewhere, so we narrowed it down to two: > Click for more

Classic in its aesthetic and timeless in its design, the traditional kitchen is still a prevalent desire among most of those embarking on a kitchen renovation project today. So if you’re a traditionalist at heart, but worry you may be dating your home -don’t! A major trend has hit the kitchen design world – and that is the new traditional kitchen.
Combining traditional door styles with more contemporary elements that keep the space looking fresh and up-to-date, while still providing an overall elegant, detailed look are the keys to creating the new traditional kitchen. This can be achieved by opening up walls and creating more flow through your home, choosing clean, bright coloured finishes, pairing elegant mouldings and contemporary hardware are – each of these things will help provide you with an elegant, classic kitchen that remains crisp, clean, and energetic. > Click for more

I am a strong believer in having my kids join me in the kitchen, whether it is to help make a simple snack or for an all day bake off.
All 3 of my kids who range in age from 5-14 years have learned so much from being little helpers in the kitchen. I have allowed them to be with me in the kitchen from the instant they could sit and play with pots and pans on the floor while I worked around them cooking dinner. They knew they could safely play with anything they could reach in the bottom drawers…pots, pans, Tupperware, cookie sheets, etc. I would even fill a pot up with crackers or whatever they were eating at the time and let them feel free to be creative with their food!
My two youngest kids are both boys and they want to be the machinery controllers; I never have to ask them twice to give me a hand with anything in the kitchen. Turning the mixer on and off, and setting the oven to the right temperature with the digital buttons are their favorite tasks. I have had to make special accommodations to make sure they can do these tasks safely.
On the other hand, my 14 year old daughter, who used to love helping me whip up a batch of cookies or ice a cake, now claims that anything I ask her to do in the kitchen is a “chore”. I do however have full confidence that the early years of inviting her to help out in the kitchen will pay off in later years. And much to my surprise this past weekend I came home to find her whipping up her own batch of cookies…all on her own. > Click for more

Do you ever wonder what the difference is between Big Box stores and AyA Kitchens? or what about the difference between AyA Kitchens and Custom Kitchen shops?
So do we, so we decided to do some research and see how we compare. We got a team of AyA’s top sleuths and started our investigation by deciding on a standard size kitchen with similar door style, finish, hardware & accessories. We priced it out to see how much it would cost at AyA and once this was established, we sent out our Sherlock wannabe’s to scope out the top big box stores and custom kitchen shops to get our kitchen specs quoted. After a stop at the local pizza shop (kitchen quoting is hard work!) it was time to return to AyA and go over the findings.
We knew we would beat out the custom shops on price, but the big surprise came when we beat out the big box stores as well! AyA consistently comes in at better value in all categories. Not only is pricing more attractive we are locally manufactured, our product is third party certified, professional installation and in-house design is included and every order is unique and custom built, not from stock. > Click for more

When taking on a kitchen renovation, there is usually AT LEAST two people involved in the decision making… and like with any situation, more than one opinion, desire, dream, want, need etc. can cause some “hiccups” as we are all different. Life would be boring otherwise, no?
The best thing you can do to make this process smooth and LESS painless is to do your homework. Look in magazines, visit showrooms – decide what you both like and DON’T LIKE.. and start working through it to come to some sort of understanding. When making an appointment with a kitchen designer, it is best to have some agreement on which direction you would like to go in. For instance, if you want a new kitchen and your significant other thinks your existing kitchen is just fine, this creates a much more difficult consultation. > Click for more
